Camps
The Pleasures of Camping Enjoy comfortable camps on soft sandy
beaches. Relax in the shade or swim in the river, play horseshoes or cribbage,
nap on the beach or hike a scenic side canyon. Try your luck at fly fishing or
panning for gold.
Enjoy playful otters,
chipmunks and squirrels. Marvel at gravity defying bighorn sheep and mountain
goats clinging to sheer granite cliffs hundreds of feet above the river. Watch
deer and elk feed in meadows of larkspur and lupine. Glimpse roly-poly black
bears munching huckleberries in shady side canyons.
Gourmet Food on the River
From the time you embark with
us, wholesome and mouth- watering Dutch oven meals add a special delight to
your wilderness vacation. Toast marshmallows with friends around glowing
campfires or watch in wonder as your guides create delicious Dutch oven
cuisine. Dine on smoked prime rib, Cajun chicken with mango salsa, crisp salads
and fresh fruit. Dutch oven desserts and breads are always camp favorites, but
our homemade huckleberry ice cream hand churned on the Salmon, is a special
river treat. Below is a sample of our menus!
Meals Provided / Dietary
Considerations From the put-in to the take-out, K-Bear River
Adventures, Inc. provides all meals, snacks, fresh drinking water, and a
limited supply of beverages and mixers. We supply extra ice, and are happy to
haul additional beverages for our guests, as space allows. Please make
arrangements for this in advance. We will make every attempt to offer meals
that will satisfy each guest's individual needs. However, space is very
limited. Let us know, well in advance, if you have any special dietary
requirements.
River Menus
Dinners
Sweep Boat Strudel Fresh shrimp, scallops, crab, cheeses,
and herbs wrapped in a flaky strudel shell. Baked in Dutch ovens to a crisp
golden brown delight. Served with young asparagus spears, hollandaise sauce and
crisp Mandarin Almond Salad. Dessert - Widow Bar Apple Pie.
Painter's Prime Rib Aged Montana beef, smoked to
perfection. Finished on the river over hot coals. Served with fluffy, baked
Idaho russet potatoes, sour cream, and fresh chives. Tender golden dinner
rolls, hot out of a Dutch oven, and fresh garden herb salad. Dessert - Hermit
Hank's huckleberry ice cream.
Chorizo del Rio Pan seared, gourmet chorizo sausage,
simmered with fresh peppers, lemon, and garlic in a white wine cream sauce.
Served with hand made butternut pasta, fresh cilantro, and riverside garlic
cheese biscuits. Dessert - Crooked Creek Cobbler.
Chamberlian Chicken An apricot garlic rub sends this bird
to the barbeque in style. Served with creamy, sweet-potato mashers, black beans
with green chilies and golden homemade corn bread. Dessert - Pineapple Whiplash
Cake.
South Fork Salmon Carmel glazed wild Sockeye Salmon
fillets, soaked in mandarin soy marinade. Broiled to tender perfection over hot
coals. Served with wild rice, smoked corn salad, and mouth-watering rosemary
baguettes. Dessert - Bailey Bar Bread Pudding with brandy sauce.
We always have plenty of
cool water, a selection of wines, beer, soda, and fruit juice with dinner, and
we serve fresh ground and brewed gourmet coffee and tea with
dessert.
Lunch
Cove Creek Crab Croissants Tender croissants stuffed with crab,
shrimp, celery, olives, tomato, herbs, jack cheese, and dressing, served with
crunchy carrot sticks, deli chips, and cool apple slices. Top it all off with a
slice of rich chocolate Mississippi Mud Cake.
Long Tom's Taco Salad Wild Idaho elk venison, well seasoned,
and simmered in tomato, served on a bed of crisp red lettuce, green onion,
cheddar and jack cheese, black olives, chilies, ripe tomato, blue corn
tortillas, fresh salsa, and sour cream. Cool grapes and strawberries and
Montana monster cookies.
Allison's Ranch Hand Special Piles of thin deli-shaved
roast beef and smoked turkey breast. Sliced cheddar and Swiss cheese with fresh
leaf lettuce and ripe tomato. Gourmet pickles, horseradish sauce, deli chips
and mustards. Bear Creek Brownies with caramel sauce for dessert.
Rainier Wraps Red chili tortillas, piled high with
chicken breast salad, celery, tomato, red grapes, green onion, chili peppers,
and crisp romaine lettuce. Crunchy corn tortilla chips and fresh salsa. Frosted
turtle cookies.
Monroe's Hancock Helper Carrot & spinach pasta with gourmet
pastrami, green and black olives, capers, red onion, cherry tomatoes, blue
cheese, baby carrots, wine vinegar, olive oil, and herbs. Served with garlic
croutons. Apple slices & caramel dip. Crofoot cookies.
We always have fresh
fruits and vegetables, cool drinking water, and a selection of sodas for
lunch.
Breakfast
Biscuits and Gold Rush Gravy Hand rolled, Dutch oven,
buttermilk biscuits smothered in rich white gravy, loaded with big chunks of
lean home-style Italian breakfast sausage served with crisp hash browned
potatoes.
Fivemile French Toast Thick sliced French bread dipped in
cinnamon egg batter and grilled to tender golden perfection. Served with fresh
strawberries and cream, crisp bacon, and potatoes O'Brien.
Stand Back Sticky Buns & Eggs Butterscotch glazed cinnamon
rolls, hot out of a Dutch oven, served with garden vegetable and cheese
scrambled eggs.
Ludwig's Grill Tasty German sausage and light, fluffy,
wild huckleberry hot cakes. Served with homemade syrup rich whipped cream and
rosemary potatoes.
Corn Creek Crumpets Homemade, buttery cinnamon and
cranberry scones, fresh berries, yogurt and cereals get us on the river fast
the first morning.
We serve fresh ground
and brewed, gourmet coffee, tea, fruit juice and hot cocoa with breakfast. Ripe
melon, oranges, apples, yogurt and cereal are available with every
breakfast.
