The Salmon "River of No Return"

The magnificent Salmon, our country's longest free flowing river, courses over 410 miles through the heart of Idaho. This legendary river turned back the famous Lewis and Clark expedition in 1805. Walls of solid granite soar to blue skies above the nations second deepest canyon. Challenging rapids lurk around nearly every bend. Silky white sand beaches, lined with towering pines and wildflowers, provide campsites fit for royalty. Natural hot springs bubble invitingly at rivers edge. On our trips, you will enjoy over 82 miles of world-class river rafting in the "River of No Return" Wilderness Area.

Fun Rapids
Perfect for families and "thrill seekers" alike, the Mighty Salmon is a classic "pool and drop" river. A nice mixture of big, exciting class 3 and 4 rapids, like Devil's Teeth, Elkhorn, The Growler, and Big Mallard, to name a few, interspersed with serene sections of flat water perfect for wildlife viewing or a refreshing swim.

Historical Treasures
Explore historic mining camps and homesteads. Peek into the past lives of pioneers like Francis Wisner, Jim Moore, Frank and Jesse Lantz, and the Killum family. Experience the same thrilling white water that made men like Captain Guleke and John McKay into river legends.

Ancient Legends
Legends come to life as you float into a canyon so wild and free that it was the last stronghold of the Sheepeater Indians. Ancient pictographs painted by Sheepeaters on solid rock, tell stories of, "surprise attacks", cunning warriors, and the people who first made the canyon their home.

Wildlife Galore
Enjoy playful otters, chipmunks and squirrels. Marvel at gravity defying bighorn sheep and mountain goats clinging to sheer granite cliffs hundreds of feet above the river. Watch deer and elk feed in meadows of larkspur and lupine. Glimpse rolly-polly black bears munching huckleberries in shady side canyons.

Mason,
"Thanks for the wonderful trip. My only regret is that I didn't do it years ago. Darlene and I had a great time. We will be back".
